Sometimes is can feel like our happiness boosting efforts are just too slow. But by prioritizing these high-impact skills can help you boost your happiness faster.

Not too long ago, I conducted a study to find out which skills are the most closely linked to happiness. What I discovered is that some skills are more closely related to happiness than other skills. So prioritizing these high-impact skills can help you boost your happiness faster.​

Think of it this way. If you’re in college to learn business, you want to learn the skills that are more closely related to your future career. Your future career would benefit more from taking business classes, like entrepreneurship and marketing. Taking classes in painting and biology would be less relevant. By focusing on the skills that are most closely related to your goal, your make better progress.​

What are the key happiness skills?

The same is true for happiness as any other goal. Learning certain high-impact happiness skills will increase your happiness more than learning other skills.

What else makes a skill high-impact? Well, imagine you are worse at math than language. Then you would benefit more from practicing math than language.

Why? Because learning skills that you personally struggle with will increase your happiness more than working on skills you’re already good at. This is why in our happiness program, we always start with high-impact skills. This way you can jump start your happiness fast...and make more progress in the long run.
