Psychiatrists and psychologists have a name for this kind of mood when it persists for weeks or even longer: dysphoria. This is different from how you feel after getting a bad grade in school, losing an important playoff game, or finding out that the coworker you’re crushing on doesn’t reciprocate your interest. Dysphoria is long lasting and requires more substantial intervention than the feelings that follow a disappointing event.
