Podcasting has exploded in popularity over the past decade, but the rise of artificial intelligence has made it even easier for anyone to launch a show. You no longer need to spend thousands of dollars (and thousands of hours) on recording equipment, editing software, or professional hosts. With AI tools like Google Notebook LM, Canva, and YouTube, you can create a podcast for free—even if you don’t feel comfortable being the voice behind the mic.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through exactly how to create an AI podcast, from generating your script to branding, publishing, and promoting it. By the end, you’ll have everything you need to launch your own AI-powered podcast and start building an audience online.

Why Start an AI Podcast?

Before diving into the step-by-step process, let’s quickly explore why AI podcasting is such a powerful opportunity right now.

Traditional podcasting takes a lot of time: writing, recording, editing, mixing, branding, and distributing episodes can easily overwhelm a new creator. I started my own podcast earlier this year and I burned out within a few months—it was just way too much. Coordinating with guests, preparing by reading their books, and then editing and promoting. It wasn't long before I knew I was going to quit.

AI tools remove many of these barriers by allowing you to generate scripts, voices, and even full episodes automatically without ever having to get in front of a camera. This means you can focus more on your content, your branding, and your marketing—while letting the technology handle the heavy lifting.

AI podcasts are also scalable. Once you learn the workflow, you can create multiple episodes in less time, expand into multiple niches, or even repurpose content you already have into audio form. That's what I'm doing. I'm building a new brand and website, and simply turning each new article on that website into a podcast episode.

Step 1: Prepare Your Content

The foundation of any podcast is strong, engaging content. With AI podcasting, you have two main options:

Write your own articles or scripts – If you already create blogs, guides, or educational content, you can easily repurpose that into podcast episodes.
Use PLR (Private Label Rights) content – PLR content is pre-written material you can legally modify, rebrand, and publish. For example, you can use the high-quality content from our All-Access Pass to create an AI podcast episode in just a few minutes. This can save you time and give you a solid base to work from.

Whichever option you choose, make sure the material is high-quality, relevant to your audience, and easy to adapt into spoken word. AI tools like Notebook LM work best when they’re fed with well-structured, informative content.

Step 2: Generate Your Podcast Script in Google Notebook LM

Google’s Notebook LM is a powerful AI tool designed for research, summarization, and content generation. It can analyze long documents and turn them into concise, natural-sounding scripts, podcasts & explainer videos.

Here’s how to use it:

Upload your chosen content (your article, blog, or PLR material) into Notebook LM.
Click the button for "Audio Overview".
Download your podcast episode when you're done.

Step 3: Combine PLR Content To Create Something New

If you’re using PLR (Private Label Rights) content collection for your AI podcast, one of the best ways to make it unique is by blending multiple sources together. Instead of taking a single article and turning it into an episode, try combining different pieces of content into a fresh, cohesive output.

For example, you could take:

A PLR course on Workplace Burnout, and
A few articles that focus on resilience

By including multiple things as sources in Google Notebook LM, it weaves them together seamless and creates something new. You then create an entirely new podcast episode (or explainer video) that sounds original and offers unique value to listeners.

Step 4: Brand Your Podcast with Canva

Branding is what helps you create a consistent and trust worthy relationship with your audience. After generating your audio, you’ll want to create cover art, include logos, and add brand colors that reflect your podcast’s personality.

Canva is my favorite tool for this, and even though I have the paid version now, you can do all this for free.

Here’s what to focus on:

Podcast Cover Art: Create an eye-catching image that includes your show’s title and visual style. This will appear on directories like Spotify or Apple Podcasts if you later expand your distribution.
AI Hosts: You might even create images of an AI podcast host so that you have a consistent presenter (even if that presenter is only AI).
Your Logo: I like to include either my website link directly on the screen of all my videos and podcast. That way, if someone wants to learn more, they know exactly where to go.

Canva also allows you to create a brand kit, which keeps your fonts, colors, and logos consistent across all episodes and platforms.

Step 5: Upload Your Podcast Across Multiple Platforms

Once your AI podcast is ready, you don’t want to limit yourself to a single platform. While YouTube is a powerful place to start, the real magic happens when you distribute your show across multiple podcast directories and apps. This allows you to reach listeners no matter where they prefer to consume content.

Here are some of the best places to upload your podcast:

YouTube – Many people post podcasts directly on YouTube. Pair your audio with branded visuals or simple background images.
Spotify (via Spotify for Podcasters) – One of the most popular platforms for podcast listeners worldwide. Easy to use and allows you to track analytics.
Apple Podcasts – The original podcast hub and still a leading platform. Listing your show here boosts credibility and reach.
Amazon Music & Audible – Millions of people stream podcasts here, and distribution is straightforward through many hosting providers.
iHeartRadio & TuneIn – Both are widely used by radio listeners who enjoy podcasts alongside traditional broadcasts.
Stitcher & Pocket Casts – Popular among dedicated podcast listeners looking for niche shows.

The easiest way to publish on multiple platforms is to use a podcast hosting service like Buzzsprout, Podbean, or Anchor (Spotify for Podcasters). These platforms create an RSS feed for your podcast, which can automatically push your episodes to dozens of podcast directories at once. (Note: I have never used these so I can not attest to whether they are good or not).

Step 6: Repurpose Content into Shorts

YouTube Shorts are one of the best ways to get additional exposure for your AI podcast. Short, snackable clips (1-2 minutes) are perfect for attracting new viewers who might not commit to a full episode right away.

Here’s how to make them:

Pull out a powerful quote, insight, or teaser from your episode.
Use Canva or another video editor to add text overlays, captions, and engaging visuals.
Upload the clip as a YouTube Short with a catchy title.

Shorts can dramatically boost your channel growth and funnel more listeners toward your full-length podcast episodes. You can also repurpose these clips for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Facebook, giving your podcast additional reach.

Step 7: Grow Your Podcast Audience

Creating your podcast is just the first step. To succeed, you’ll need to build a loyal audience. Here are some effective strategies:

Consistency: Release episodes on a regular schedule so listeners know when to expect new content.
Cross-Promotion: Share your episodes on social media, email newsletters, and within text articles (like this one).
Engagement: Ask questions, encourage comments, and invite listener feedback.
SEO Optimization: Use your keywords in titles, descriptions, and tags to make your content more discoverable.

Remember, podcast growth takes time. But AI gives you a huge advantage by allowing you to produce more high-quality content faster.
