5:00 AM – Waking Up with Excitement

I normally wake up closer to 7 a.m. (with setting an alarm), but today I woke up at 5 a.m. because I’m genuinely excited about my day. That’s one of the greatest joys of being an online business owner: I’m building something I love, and it doesn’t feel like drudgery.
The first thing I do is make a cup of tea. This quiet ritual sets the tone for the day. No phone, no laptop yet—just me and the ritual that starts my day.

Monthly Earnings and Costs

Since today happened to be the first of the month, I started my workday by recording my monthly earnings and expenses. This practice keeps me grounded in the realities of running an online business.

Tracking revenue streams is more than just numbers on a spreadsheet—it’s a pulse check on what’s working, what needs attention, and where I can lean in further. I jot down income from memberships, digital products, affiliate sales, and Amazon revenue. On the other side, I list expenses like hosting fees, email marketing platforms, and pop-up ads.

This monthly ritual gives me clarity. It also fuels motivation. Seeing growth—even in small increments—reminds me that consistent effort compounds over time. And when something dips, I don’t panic. I simply use that data as feedback to adjust my approach.

Turning Articles into Video Podcasts

One of the most exciting parts of my routine is trying new things. Today, I popped into Google Notebook LM, a powerful AI tool that I recently discovered, that helps me transform existing blog posts into video scripts for YouTube videos.

Why do I do this? Because one piece of content can—and should—live in multiple formats. An article on my website reaches readers, but when I turn that same article into a video or podcast, I expand my audience to YouTube and podcast listeners. It’s about maximizing the value of what I’ve already created. Repurposing content not only saves time but also ensures brand consistency across platforms.

Branding is more than just logos and colors—it’s about creating a cohesive experience that helps people instantly recognize my work. Then, with everything polished, I upload the videos directly to my YouTube page.

Monthly Member Meeting

At 9 a.m., I hosted my monthly member meeting for one of my websites. This community is a new thing I'm trying—I'm not yet sure how it will work out. For now, it’s where I connect directly with people who believe in my work enough to schedule an hour to just chat.

The meetings serve multiple purposes. I provide exclusive access to me, answer questions, and listen to people's personal stories. Members often share what they’re struggling with, which reminds me that positive impact is always the goal.

SEO Brainstorming and AI Experimentation

After the member meeting, I shifted gears into strategy mode. I spent about 30 minutes brainstorming ways to improve the search rankings (and increase pageviews) of one of my websites. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the lifeblood of an online business. Without visibility, even the best content can sit unnoticed.

Curiosity drives me, so I also tested Google Gemini, an AI tool for generating images (and other things possibly; I'm still learning). I wanted to see how AI visuals could complement my content and enhance engagement. While not every AI experiment makes it into my final workflow, I treat these explorations as creative play. Some ideas stick, others don’t—but all of them fuel innovation.

Writing the First Draft of This Article

By mid-morning, I had already accomplished a full day’s worth of tasks. Of course, there are other days where I decide to go for a bike ride instead and complete almost nothing. Every day, I simply allow my body to guide me towards what it wants to do.

Documenting The Process
This morning I woke up with the idea to share with you what my day actually looks like, so once my other tasks were handled, I got down to my favorite part of my job—writing. I wrote a bulleted list summarizing my morning and entered it into ChatGPT. That became the foundation for this very article.

There’s something meta about writing an article on “a day in the life” while still living that day. But this is the essence of online business ownership: blending creation, reflection, and sharing in real time.

I'm also at a key inflection point in my business now—this website has grown to 16 million views, I'm getting bored with my old approach, and AI is changing everything anyway. So, I'm shifting my focus to learning new things, trying new strategies, and documenting more of my processes so that you can replicate my successes (and avoid my failures). Hopefully it's helpful. :)

Creating an AI Avatar with HeyGen

Oh ya. This morning I uploaded an image to HeyGen to create a video, and it was running in the background. HeyGen allows anyone to generate a realistic, talking avatar that can present content on video—without me needing to be on camera every single time. (I hate being in front of the camera).

Within about an hour (you can pay more to get faster run times), the video was done. The image to video tool was pretty cool, but I have crooked front teeth and the video looked pretty silly and fake. So after lunch, I created an AI avatar from a video. It was pretty cool. It got my appearance and my voice pretty darn close.

For someone who runs an online business, this is a game-changer.

Why? Because not every day is a “camera-ready” day, but consistency is critical for content creation. With HeyGen, I can keep my YouTube channel, website, or social media feeds active without spending hours filming, editing, and re-recording. It also helps me scale: I can create multiple video assets quickly and focus more of my time on strategy and growth. This is definitely something I'm gonna explore further.

I'm gonna create my first video and see how it turns out. I wrote the script and edited the settings for the video. This'll take a bit of processing time, so I'm going on a walk and it should be done by the time I get back.

⏱️ An hour or so later, I have the video of my digital twin introducing herself to you. It looks like me and mostly sounds like me. The mouth moves a little bit weird, but I'm definitely gonna keep playing with it.
