What is healthy emotion processing?
In addition to engaging in activities that increase happiness, we can work towards improving our ability to automatically process our negative emotions so that they don’t bother us so much. This will help us not only capitalize on the positive situations in life, but also cope with the negative ones.
Activity: Healthy emotion processing
For this activity, we are going to briefly discuss some emotional processes that increase our ability to process emotions. For each process, rate how often you engage in it. Then try to recall a time when you engaged in it. Finally, come up with an action plan for how you will strengthen this process. For example, you could set an alarm on your watch to go off sometime every day to remind you engage in these processes. Or you could decide that whenever you eat a certain food, you will engage in the specific emotional process. This practice will help make these healthy processes more automatic.
Great job! You are really growing your happiness skills.
